The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) suggests that jurisdictions conduct an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) report is consistent with the Consolidated Plan Cycle which is every five years for the City of Plano. The report reviews data to determine potential impediments to obtaining housing based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. An analysis of HUD-provided data, stakeholder interviews, local regulations, ordinances, administrative policies, procedures and practices assists in determining their public and/or private practices or procedures that prevent fair housing choice from taking place.
The AI also supports the HUD-required certification to affirmatively further fair housing that the City signs to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) grant funds.
