| | | | | | | | ITEM SUMMARY To approve an increase in the current awarded contract awarded amount of $78,415 by $44,625 for a total contract amount of $123,040 for architectural and engineering professional services for the Secure Storage project at the Plano Aquatic Center, Project No. PKR-P-00028, from SmithGroup, Inc. for the Facilities Division of the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. (Contract Modification No. 1) Approved |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Facilities Division of the Engineering Department recommends approval of Contract Modification No. 1 to increase the professional services agreement with SmithGroup, Inc. in the amount of $44,625 to a revised amount of $123,040. The original contract included architectural and design services for the replacement of screening and additional external storage protecting existing pool maintenance equipment at the Plano Aquatic Center.
During project development, Plano Independent School District requested a replat of the Plano Senior High School. This prompted additional requirements at the Plano Aquatics Center to meet ordinance requirements. The screening will be modified, landscape will be added, and additional screening is required at the dumpster enclosures to meet ordinance requirements.
Without this modification, the site will not be compliant with current ordinance requirements and sufficient storage for critical pool maintenance equipment will be impacted, affecting the maintenance of the city’s equipment. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2024-25 Capital Maintenance Fund and is planned for future years as well. The first modification to the contract for architectural and engineering professional services with SmithGroup, Inc. for the Plano Aquatic Center - Secured Storage project will increase the awarded amount by $44,625 to a total of $123,040 leaving a balance of $298,545 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
