BACKGROUND

The Facilities Division of the Engineering Department opened bids on May 15, 2025, for the purchase of furniture replacement related to the Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center, Renovation Project FAC-F-7525.  The project includes the replacement of various tables and seating in public areas including the main corridor, classrooms, and multipurpose rooms.  The staff break room, offices, conference room, and guard room chairs will also be replaced with this project.

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by New Tangram, LLC dba Tangram Interiors, LLC, in the amount of $234,204.06.

A total of 328 vendors were notified of the opportunity, and five responsive bids were received. However, only one complete bid for all items was received. The other bids were partial and omitted key components necessary for the project, as detailed in the attached bid recap.  Staff recommends award to the lowest, responsive and responsible complete bid submitted by New Tangram, LLC dba Tangram Interiors, LLC.

If this project is not awarded, the recreation center will be unable to meet its program needs when the recreation center reopens.
