The Parks and Recreation Department opened bids on June 19, 2025, for 7450 Shady Brook Trail Retaining Wall Renovation at Woodland Creek Drive, Project No. PKR-P-00007. This project will replace two (2) portions of the retaining wall at Woodland Creek Drive/Canyon Oaks Circle to correct wall failure and erosion. The need for this work has been shown as subsidence damage to the trail and retaining wall over time, affecting the overall condition of Shady Brook Trail.
The project also includes the replacement of trail paving and an existing accessible ramp to bring the trailhead to current accessibility standards. Other work includes reconstruction of existing stone columns, repair and replacement of portions of retaining wall and steel railing, and fine grading.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Garret Shields Infrastructure, LLC in the amount of $144,930. A total of 1,727 vendors were notified about this project, and six (6) complete bids were received as shown in the attached bid recap.
The benefits of this project include the repair of structural support for the trail and controlling erosion adjacent to Shady Brook Trail to ensure trail safety and protect the surrounding environment. Not approving the expenditure will result in continued damage to the adjacent trail leading to safety concerns for trail users.
