| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department opened bids on July 15, 2025, for Intersection Improvements – Legacy Drive & SH 121 (Site 1), SH 121 at JP Morgan Driveway (Site 2), Corporate Drive & Legacy Drive (Site 3), Corporate Drive & Tennyson Parkway (Site 4), Project No. ENG-S-00003. The project includes the addition of turn lanes, accessibility upgrades, signal updates, and geometric modifications to improve safety or reduce congestion.
1. Legacy Drive & SH 121 (Site 1) - Additional northbound right turn lane
2. SH 121 at JP Morgan Driveway (Site 2) - Northbound frontage road existing turn lane extension
3. Corporate Drive & Legacy Drive (Site 3) - Additional eastbound right turn lane and eastbound/westbound dual left turn lanes
4. Corporate Drive & Tennyson Parkway (Site 4) - Additional eastbound dual left turn lanes
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by XIT Paving and Construction, Inc. in the amount of $2,594,104. There were a total of 2,498 vendors notified of this project. Four (4) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.
If this project is not awarded, traffic congestion and delays would continue to increase, and vehicular and pedestrian safety would continue to be reduced, resulting in a reduction in the quality of life for citizens and motorists at these locations. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is budgeted in the 2024-25 Street Improvements CIP and is planned for future years as well. Construction services for Intersection Improvements – Legacy Drive & SH 121 (Site 1), SH 121 at JP Morgan Driveway (Site 2), Corporate Drive & Legacy Drive (Site 3), Corporate Drive & Tennyson Parkway (Site 4), Project No. ENG-S-00003, in the total amount of $2,594,104 will leave a current year balance of $75,350 for future expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
