COMMENTS:  

Funding for this item is available in the 2016-17 Park Improvements CIP and will be carried forward into FY 2017-18.  Materials testing for the Carpenter Park South Renovation and Skate Park projects, in the amount of $53,216, will leave a combined project balance of $61,172 available for future expenditures on these or other Park Improvement projects.


SUMMARY OF ITEM


Alpha Testing, Inc., an engineering firm, is on the 2016-17 list of qualified consultants for materials testing selected through RFQ 2016-0266-X. Through a Professional Services Agreement, Alpha Testing, Inc. will provide materials testing services for construction at Carpenter Park South.   

 

The total contract fee for materials testing is $53,215.50 which will encompass several aspects of the construction project. Major elements that require a significant amount of testing include two buildings, the 25,000 square foot concrete skate park which will include foundation, bleacher shade structures, new concrete walkways and trail, a 115' pedestrian bridge, retaining walls, weir structures, athletic field light poles, new underground utility lines, and park road paving renovations.

 

The total fee is 0.6% of the total estimated construction budget of $9,118,966. The professional services fee is consistent with other materials testing contracts for park and engineering projects of this size and scope.
