SUMMARY OF ITEM
The primary purpose of school zone speed limits is to reduce the speed of travel on roadways at school crosswalks in order to reduce the potential for pedestrian – vehicle collisions. Recent changes to effective school zone times require a number of school zones to be updated to be consistent with signage posted in the field. City of Plano Transportation Engineering Division staff recommends amending the City Code in order to provide for the safety of the general public within the area.
