RECOMMENDED ACTION:Award/Rejection of Bid/Proposal

ITEM SUMMARY

RFB No. 2020-0285-ER for Arterial Concrete Pavement Maintenance Requirements Contract III - 2020, Project No. 7224, for the Public Works Department to V.A. Construction, Inc. for the initial term of $1,678,103 or two (2) years, whichever occurs first, with two (2) City optional renewals; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

Public Works Department recommends the bid for the Arterial Concrete Pavement Maintenance Requirements Contract III - 2020 project to be awarded to V.A. Construction, Inc. in the amount of $1,678,102.50, be accepted as the lowest responsible bid for the project conditioned upon timely execution of all necessary documents.

 

This project involves the repair of 18,200 square yards of arterial concrete, 10,000 square feet of sidewalk and 23 barrier free ramps at various locations throughout the City of Plano.

 

If the project is not awarded by Council, these repairs will not occur and leave the streets, sidewalks and barrier free ramps in an unsafe condition.

 

Engineer's estimate for this project is $1,912,000.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2019-20 Capital Maintenance Fund Budget and is expected in 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23.  The contract for Arterial Concrete Pavement Maintenance Requirements, in the total amount of $5,034,309, will leave a current year balance of $4,999,111 available for future expenditures for pavement maintenance.   

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factors of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government that offers Multi-Modal Transportation and Mobility Solutions and meets the Plano Tomorrow Pillar of Built Environment.
