This development agreement provides an incentive to HNL Investment Properties, LLC, owned by Tyson and Tana Lamb, to enhance the façade of the building they own at 932 14th Street, in Downtown Plano. The building was constructed in 1987 as an auto parts retail and repair facility. Its last tenant sold auto parts and had an auto machining shop in the rear. No significant improvements were made to the building since 1987.
Tyson and Tana Lamb also own Lamb Crafted, which is a high end, boutique golf brand that specializes in custom putters and products for the golf professional, collector or amateur. The Lambs are moving their business into this building. Their new headquarters will be comprised of retail, office, assembly, and manufacturing. Their production consists of CNC machining, metal finishing and assembly. Although, their sales are currently 100% ecommerce, the move to Downtown Plano will now allow for in-person sales.
The new location in Downtown Plano will allow for a boutique retail experience and regularly scheduled events for their clients from around the world. Lamb Crafted has regularly hosted events, their biggest being Lamb Jam, which is a four-day long event that includes their top customers from the US, Canada, Australia, and Britain. Their planning for Lamb Jam for next year involves several Plano businesses, including Pecan Hollow Golf Course, several Plano restaurants, and 150 room nights at a local hotel.
Staff recommends approval of this incentive to enhance the façade because:
a) This building is on a major thoroughfare at the entrance to Downtown Plano.
b) The enhanced look of the proposed building façade will be aesthetically aligned with the recent developments near this location and will help establish the character of Downtown Plano.
c) Lamb Crafted is a unique small business with an international reputation that will attract a substantial number of visitors to Plano and our Downtown.
