ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an expenditure for engineering professional services for Water Rehabilitation - Parkview Addition, Project No. 7286, in the amount of $209,560 from Binkley & Barfield, Inc. for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $209,560 for engineering professional services from Binkley & Barfield, Inc, for the Water Rehabilitation – Parkview Addition. This project includes approximately 5,420 linear feet of existing water line rehabilitation and paving repairs on the following streets:

1. Alma Drive – Lexington Drive to the north side of the intersection at Parker Road (1,250 linear feet)
2. Wimbledon Lane – from Alma Drive to Garner Lane (1,160 linear feet)
3. Garner Lane – from University Drive to Parker Road (1,110 linear feet)
4. Upshire Court – from Wimbledon Lane to cul-de sac (400 linear feet)
5. Ursula Court – from Garner Lane to cul-de-sac (400 linear feet)
6. Ginger Court – from Garner Lane to cul-de-sac (300 linear feet)
7. Parkview Plaza Easement – from Alma Drive to Parker Road (800 linear feet) .

 

The total expenditure is for $209,560.

 

Binkley & Barfield, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2019-0398-X.

The benefit of this project includes renewed water line systems which will reduce maintenance costs and interruptions of service to residents.

Not approving the expenditure would result in continued maintenance costs, intermittent service interruptions, and a reduction in quality of life for local residents.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is planned in the 2020-21 Water CIP.  Professional design services for the Water Rehabilitation - Parkview Addition project, in the total estimated amount of $209,560, will leave a combined balance of $1,770,440 for future expenditures. 

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factors of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government with Safe, Vibrant Neighborhoods.
