ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an expenditure for engineering professional services for Alley Reconstruction - Chandler Drive, Overglen Drive, Brunchberry Lane, and Karen Court, Project No. 7305, in the amount of $257,300 from BGE, Inc. for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

 

 

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $257,300 for engineering professional services from BGE, Inc. for the Alley Reconstruction – Chandler Drive, Overglen Drive, Brunchberry Lane, and Karen Court, Project No. 7305. This project includes replacement of approximately 4,685 LF of existing concrete alley at the following locations:

 - Chandler Drive Alley from Los Altos Drive to Chandler Drive (1,320 LF)

 - Brunchberry Lane Alley from Mission Ridge Road to Stilwell Road (1,150 LF)

 - Karen Court Alley from Wilma Lane to Karen Court (505 LF)

 - Overglen Drive Alley from P Avenue to R Avenue (1,710 LF).  

BGE, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2019-0396-X.

The benefit of this project includes reconstruction of deteriorating alleys, and constructing previously unpaved alley to improve safety.

Not approving the expenditure would result in continuing deterioration of neighborhood infrastructure, a reduction in quality of life for local residents, and increased maintenance costs in the future.


FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

This item approves engineering professional services for the Alley Reconstruction - Chandler Drive, Overglen Drive, Brunchberry Lane, and Karen Court, Project No. 7305.  The contract in the amount of $257,300 will leave a project balance of $1,525,000 for future expenditures in the Street Improvement CIP.

 

Approval of this item supports the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
