Technology Services proposes purchasing CISCO ACI hardware, software and support for three (3) years for the City of Plano’s Data Center Network Refresh from Presidio Network Solutions Group, LLC listed on DIR Contract No. DIR-TSO-4167. This purchase replaces the aging data center network with updated hardware and software, increases network capacity to support upcoming projects and future growth needs, as well as enhance data and system replication and recovery between the City’s on-premise data centers.
Five vendors were contacted for competitive quotes, and Presidio Network Solutions Group, LLC provided the lowest best and final offer of $691,116.
Technology Services recommends the full refresh due to the aging of existing hardware and the need to grow our environment to accommodate upcoming projects. The Brocade network devices in the data center network were installed in 2013, and should be refreshed prior to reaching end of life. Additionally, the current hardware does not have the necessary capacity to support emerging network requirements.
If not awarded, the City will not be able to support upcoming projects, and may experience unexpected outages due to hardware failures. These failures increase the risk of unplanned outages spanning all products and services hosted by the City of Plano.
The City is authorized to purchase from the State Contract list pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter D of the Texas Local Government Code and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items.
