ITEM SUMMARY

To approve the purchase of Meraki Wireless Access Points with Five-year Licenses for Technology Services in the amount of $90,491 from Netsync Network Solutions, Inc. through an existing contract; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. (DIR Contract No. DIR-TSO-4167) Approved

BACKGROUND

Technology Services proposes purchasing Meraki Wireless Access Points for the City of Plano’s wireless networking systems from Netsync Network Solutions, Inc. The access points will replace access points that are no longer supported and also provide wireless networking capabilities at facilities that do not have them today. This purchase will provide continuous and new wireless network connectivity for Public Safety locations such as Fire Stations, Police Substations and Animal Services. It also provides service to citizen supporting locations such as Visit Plano, Day Labor Center and the Environmental Education Center.

Five (5) vendors were contacted for competitive quotes and Netsync Network Solutions, Inc. provided the lowest price. An award to Netsync Network Solutions, Inc. will be based on Contract DIR-TSO-4167 for a one time purchase in the amount of $90,491.

If the City of Plano does not purchase these support services, Technology Services would not be able to ensure the continuity of wireless network services at these locations.

The City is authorized to purchase from the State Contract list pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter D of the Texas Local Government Code and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items. (DIR Contract No. DIR-TSO-4167 / City of Plano Internal Contract No. 2021-0114-OR)
