| | | | | | | | ITEM SUMMARY To approve an expenditure for engineering professional services for Erosion Control - Spring Creek at 16th Street, Project No. 7308, in the amount of $205,200 from Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. | | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $205,200 for engineering professional services from Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for Erosion Control – Spring Creek at 16th Street, Project No. 7308. This project includes creek stabilization and erosion protection measures through the installation of a new gabion tieback wall with an approximate length of 420 linear feet and height varying from approximately 15 to 24 feet.
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their statement of qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2019-0396-X.
The benefit of this project includes installing streambank stabilization devices that control the erosion along Spring Creek and protect the adjacent properties, structures, and infrastructure.
Not approving the expenditure would result in continued erosion along the streambank resulting in potentially dangerous impacts to adjacent properties and structures.

| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in 2020-21 Municipal Drainage CIP and is planned for future years, as well. Engineering professional services for the Erosion Control - Spring Creek at 16th Street, Project No. 7308, in the total estimated amount of $205,200, will leave a current year balance of $14,800 for future project expenditures.
