RECOMMENDED ACTION:Approval of Expenditure

ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an expenditure for engineering professional services for Parker Road Estates Water Line Replacement - Phase 2, Project No. 7293, in the amount of $576,593 from CP&Y, Inc. for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $576,593 for engineering professional services from CP&Y, Inc., for the Parker Road Estates Water Line Replacement - Phase 2, Project No. 7293. This project includes the replacement of 6-inch and 8-inch water lines, associated concrete pavement replacement, and barrier free ramps along the following streets:

1. Landershire Lane between Roundrock Trail and Glen Forest Lane (Approx. 1,420 LF)

2. Glen Forest Lane between Roundrock Trail and Landershire Lane (Approx. 1,170 LF)

3. Downing Drive between Roundrock Trail and Bengal Lane (Approx. 1,230 LF)

4. Silverstone Drive between Cross Bend Road and Eastbound side of West Parker Road (Approx. 3,600 LF)

5. Torrey Manor between Cross Bend Road and Timberlake Drive (Approx. 1,165 LF)

6. Torrey Place (Approx. 110 LF)

7. Lawndale Drive between Silverstone Drive and Glen Forest Lane (Approx. 915 LF)

8. Lawndale Place (Approx. 130 LF)

9. Timberlake Drive between Glen Forest Lane and Winterstone Drive (Approx. 565 LF)

10. Canyon Valley Trail between Silverstone Drive and Custer Road (Approx. 1,465 LF)

11. Tree House Lane between Silverstone Drive and Custer Road (Approx. 1,235 LF)

 

CP&Y, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2019-0398-X.

 

The benefits of this project include reduced maintenance costs and interruptions of service to residents.

 

Not approving the expenditure would result in increased ongoing localized maintenance, intermittent service interruptions, additional maintenance costs and a reduction in quality of life for local residents.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2020-21 Water CIP and is planned for 2021-22, as well.  Engineering professional services for the Parker Road Estates Phase 2 project, in the total estimated amount of $576,593, will leave a current year balance of $301,704 for future project expenditures. 

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
