| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Merriman Estates subdivision abuts Plano East Senior High School. The proximity to the school has attracted students to park within the subdivision, which has resulted in implementing parking restrictions on certain sections of roadways in the community in 2018 and 2019.
The Merriman Estates HOA reached out to Transportation Engineering Division again to express the same concerns in other areas of the community and requested staff to consider additional parking restrictions to be implemented on Dottie Drive, Plumridge Drive, Redbridge Drive, and Saddleridge Drive as the previously established no parking zones have been effective in deterring students from parking in the neighborhood.
The residents along these streets have completed the petition process set forth by City of Plano Engineering Department, which showed community support for prohibiting on-street parking on these streets when the school is in session.
The Engineering Department supports the proposed parking restrictions and recommends approval of the ordinance. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS This item may impact revenue collected from parking fines due to the implementation of parking restrictions; however, the exact change in revenue is indeterminable and will have minimal impact on the General Fund budget.
Approval of this ordinance to establish restrictions along sections of Dottie Drive, Plumridge Drive, Redbridge Drive and Saddleridge Drive supports the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of Safe, Vibrant Neighborhoods.
