Plano Fire-Rescue recommends awarding a contract to Stolz Telecom Inc. to upfit two (2) Battalion Chief vehicles.
Plano Fire-Rescue has two (2) Chevrolet Suburbans that were purchased to replace two (2) Chevrolet Tahoes. In addition to upgrading the Battalion Chief response units to larger vehicles, Plano Fire-Rescue designed an equipment upgrade package to enhance incident communications and situational awareness. This equipment upgrade was outside of the funding allocated for replacement in the Fleet Equipment Replacement Fund.
The City of Plano completed a bid solicitation and received 3 responses, 4 no-bids, 1 withdrawn, and 1 non-responsive, due to not attending a required site visit. Stolz Telecom Inc. is the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder remaining in the process, with a total bid amount of $90,667. Plano Fire-Rescue recommends awarding the contract for upfitting the Battalion Chief vehicles to Stolz Telecom Inc. Funding for the equipment upgrade package is available from Plano Fire-Rescue’s Equipment Replacement Fund.
Failure to award the purchase will impede Plano Fire-Rescue’s ability to leverage existing technologies for enhanced incident communications and situational awareness.
