ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an expenditure for construction materials testing professional services for Water Rehabilitation Cross Creek East #3A, Project No. 7055, in the amount of $71,945 from Henley-Johnston & Associates, Inc. for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $71,945 for materials testing services from Henley-Johnston & Associates, Inc., for the Water Rehabilitation of Cross Creek East #3A.

 

This project includes the construction related for the replacement or installation of approximately 12,700 linear feet of 8" and 6" water lines in the Cross Creek neighborhood including all related appurtenances. The project will also include the replacement of sidewalks, ADA ramps and previously identified street pavement repairs.

 

Henley-Johnston & Associates, Inc., was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2019-0397-X.

 

The benefit of this project includes replacing old cast iron water lines with PVC pipe which will reduce water system outages and reduce maintenance costs.

 

Not approving the expenditure would result in limiting the Contractor’s accountability to provide city required specifications on materials constructed, which could possibly reduce the infrastructure’s service life and require increase maintenance costs.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2020-21 Water CIP.  Materials testing services, in the total estimated amount of $71,945, will leave a current year balance of $7,269,285 for future project expenditures.

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
