| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department opened bids on April 8, 2021, for Intersection Improvements at Parkwood Boulevard and Legacy Drive, Coit Road at SH 190 and Mapleshade Lane, Project No. 6610. The project includes additional turning lanes and pavement at each intersection to increase capacity and reduce congestion. Sidewalk, barrier-free ramp replacements, and signal modifications are also included. A hike and bike trail will be constructed on the east side of Parkwood Boulevard between Tennyson Parkway to north of the Legacy Drive intersection.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by New World Contracting, LLC in the amount of $3,059,896. There were a total of 571 vendors notified of this project. Nine (9) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.
If this project is not awarded, the result will be continued traffic congestion on Coit Road and at the two intersections as well as incomplete or non-compliant pedestrian access, having a negative impact on the quality of life in these areas.

| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2020-21 Street Improvements CIP and is planned in 2021-22, as well. Construction services for the Intersection Improvements at Parkwood Boulevard and Legacy Drive, Coit Road at SH 190 and Mapleshade Lane project, in the total estimated amount of $3,059,896, will leave a current year balance of $1,498,675 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
