Public Works Department recommends the bid for Concrete Sidewalk Requirements Contract West - 2021 be awarded to HQS Construction, LLC, in the amount of $1,334,500.00, be accepted as the lowest responsible bid for the project conditioned upon timely execution of all necessary documents.

This project involves the repair of sidewalk and barrier free ramps primarily due to issues with trip hazards or slopes that are in violation of ADA requirements.  The specific locations have not been identified.  Locations will be selected on an as-needed basis from requests by the public and Public Works staff,  The total project quantity includes 100,000 square feet of concrete sidewalk as well as the repair of 268 barrier free ramps at various locations throughout the City of Plano, generally west of Independence Parkway.

If this project is not awarded at Council, the planned repairs would not occur, leaving these areas in an unsafe condition.

Engineer's estimate for this project is $1,500,000.

Funding for this item is available in the 2020-21 Capital Maintenance Fund and is planned for future years, as well.  Award of the Concrete Sidewalk Requirements Contract West has an initial term of two (2) years or $1,334,500 and two (2) City optional renewals of the same term, for an estimated total amount of $4,003,200 if all renewal options are exercised.
