RECOMMENDED ACTION:Award/Rejection of Bid/Proposal

ITEM SUMMARY

RFB No. 2021-0398-ER for the initial term of $1,789,700 or two (2) years, whichever occurs first, with two (2) City optional renewals for Residential Concrete Pavement Maintenance Requirements Contract - 2021, Project 7350, for Public Works Department to Alvand Construction, Inc., dba Advance Contracting Group in the amount of $1,789,700 for each term; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents.  Approved

BACKGROUND

Public Works Department recommends the bid for Residential Concrete Pavement Maintenance Requirements Contract - 2021 to be awarded to Alvand Construction, Inc., dba Advance Contracting Group, in the amount of $1,789,700.00, be accepted as the lowest responsible bid for the project conditioned upon timely execution of all necessary documents.

 

This project involves the concrete repair of streets, alley and sidewalks, as well as barrier free ramps, that are located in residential areas throughout the City of Plano. The specific locations have not been identified. Locations will be selected on an as-needed basis from requests by the public and Public Works staff. The total project quantity includes 19,000 square yards of street and alley pavement, 12,000 square feet of sidewalk and 51 barrier free ramps at various locations through the City of Plano.

 

If this project is not awarded at Council, the planned repairs would not occur, leaving these areas in an unsafe condition.

 

Engineer's estimate for this project is $2,046,000.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2020-21 Capital Maintenance Fund Budget and is planned for future years, as well.  Award of the Residential Concrete Pavement Maintenance Requirements Contract has an initial term of two (2) years or $1,789,700 and two (2) City optional renewals of the same term, for an estimated total amount of $5,369,100 if all renewal options are exercised. 

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
