RECOMMENDED ACTION:Approval of Expenditure

ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an expenditure for engineering professional services for Water Rehab - Parker Road Estates Phase 1, Project No. 7356, in the amount of $306,727 from Raymond L. Goodson, Jr., Inc. for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents.  Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $306,727 for professional design services from Raymond L. Goodson, Jr., Inc., for the Water Rehab– Parker Road Estates Phase 1 project. This project includes approximately 15,000 linear feet of existing water line rehabilitation and paving repairs on the following streets:

 

Cross Bend Road – Riverview Drive to Bluffmeadow Trail (300 FT)

Tahoe Place – Santiago Drive to Cul-de-sac (310 FT)

Townbluff Drive – Cross Bend Road to Landershire Lane (1,170 FT)

Landershire Lane – Independence Parkway to Santiago Drive (650 FT)

Townbluff Drive – Landershire Lane to Hilltop Lane (910 FT)

Glenhaven Drive – Bluffmeadow Trail to Silverstone Drive (1,780 FT)

Deep Valley Trail – Roundrock Trail to Silverstone Drive (990 FT)

Lawndale Drive – Landershire Lane to Silverstone Drive (2,370 FT)

Downing Drive – Deep Valley Trail to Roundrock Trail (1,360 FT)

Winfield Drive – Deep Valley Trail to Roundrock Trail (1,140 FT)

Winterstone Drive – Deep Valley Trail to Roundrock Trail (1,070 FT)

Roundrock Trail – Parker Road to Cross Bend Road (2,950 FT)

Street and sidewalk paving will be replaced as needed within the above described project limits.

 

The total expenditure is for $ 306,727.

 

Raymond L. Goodson, Jr., Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2019-0398-X.

 

The benefit of this project includes renewed water line systems which will reduce maintenance costs and interruptions of service to residents.

 

Not approving the expenditure would result in continued maintenance costs, intermittent service interruptions, and a reduction in quality of life for local residents.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2020-21 Water CIP and is planned for 2021-22, as well.  Professional design services for the Water Rehab - Parker Road Estates Phase 1 project, in the total estimated amount of $306,727, will leave a current year balance of $50,000 for future project expenditures.

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
