(BuyBoard Contract No. 583-19 & Sourcewell Contract No. 081120-PCR ) Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department (Facilities Division) needs to purchase several pieces of Fitness Equipment for the New Fire Rescue Training Center as part of the CIP Project. This equipment includes items such as treadmills, rowers, and fitness bikes; along with miscellaneous free weight training items. To ensure equipment consistency, we recommend the new equipment to be from the same manufacturers in use currently. Our Fire Facilities offer Precor, Assault Fitness, and Xebex, fitness equipment.

The Engineering Department (Facilities Division) recommends purchasing all fitness equipment from Team Marathon Fitness, Inc. dba Marathon Fitness. To maximize savings, it is recommended to purchase Precor equipment via Sourcewell Contract No. 081120-PCR and Assault Fitness and Xebex equipment (along with miscellaneous free weight training items) via BuyBoard contract number 583-19.

The funds for this purchase are available through the CIP Project Fund Account 10221.

The fitness component of the new Fire Training Center is a very important part of overall health and readiness of personnel using the new facility. Staff believes that not purchasing this equipment, or purchasing the equipment from a variety of manufacturers, would negatively impact the overall goal of the new Training Fire Center.

The City is authorized to purchase from a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or a local cooperative organization pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter F of the Texas Local Government Code and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items.(BuyBoard Contract No. 583-19 and Sourcewell Contract No. 081120-PCR, City of Plano Contract No. 2021-0448-O)
