  CITY COUNCIL AGENDA MEMO
MEETING DATE: 9/27/2021
DEPARTMENT:Fire
DIRECTOR:Sam Greif, Deputy City Manager
AGENDA ITEM:Stryker Cot and Loader Maintenance Agreement.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:Approval of Expenditure

ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an expenditure for maintenance agreement on Stryker Cots and Power Load systems for a five (5) year contract in the estimated amount of $172,710 from Stryker Corporation for Fire-Rescue; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

Stryker Cots and Power Load systems are used in all 13 Plano Fire-Rescue ambulances.  The department utilizes 3 additional Stryker Cots on EMS Carts and 1 Stryker Cot as a reserve.  Preventative maintenance and service for cots and load systems are currently covered under two existing contracts, with Contract 2017-0364-C Stryker Loader Systems due to expire on September 29, 2021.  The purchase of this new agreement combines maintenance and service for cots and load systems into one contract.

This agreement will be with Stryker Corporation, a sole-source provider of maintenance plans for Stryker products.

If not approved, Plano Fire-Rescue will be unable to ensure our cots and load systems receive the necessary maintenance and service for safe operation.

The City is exempt from the competitive bid process for this purchase as allowed by Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252 Subchapter B Section 252.022(a)(7)(A). (City of Plano Internal Contract No. 2021-0521-XR)

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Expenditures will be made in the Fire Department based on need and within approved budget appropriations for each year of the agreement.  The total estimated amount to be spent for the maintenance agreement for Medical Cots and Power Load Systems is $172,710 ($34,542 in each of FY 2021-22, 2022-23, & 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26).

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
