AGENDA ITEM:Animal Shelter Parking Lot and Shade Structure
RECOMMENDED ACTION:Award/Rejection of Bid/Proposal

ITEM SUMMARY

RFB No. 2021-0484-B for the Animal Shelter Parking Lot and Shade Structure, Project No. 7199, for the Facilities Department to North Rock Construction LLC in the amount of $406,669; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

The Purchasing Department conducted a Competitive Bid Process for this project. Facilities has reviewed the bids submitted for this project at the Animal Shelter. Eight (8) responses were received with (7) no bids. We recommend award to the lowest responsive, responsible bid which was North Rock Construction LLC, in the amount of $406,668.97. Two (2) non-responses were received due to not attending mandatory site visit.

If this project is not awarded, the added parking that is needed to keep the patrons safe, will not be available. Current overflow parking lines the side street that has heavy traffic of large trucks serving the North Texas Municipal Solid Waste Transfer Station. In addition, the shade structures over the adoption pens will aid in the comfort of the patrons while also increasing the availability of the pens in inclement weather, growing the amount of animal adoptions, decreasing the amount of animals possibly needing to be euthanized.

The funding for the project is in CIP 31.15192 ($314,169), 35.54425 ($17,500) and Account 68.588 ($75,000) totaling $406,669.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the Municipal Facilities CIP, Capital Maintenance Fund, and Animal Shelter Donations Fund.  Construction services for the Animal Shelter Parking Lot and Shade Structure project, in the total estimated amount of $406,669, will leave a combined balance of $68,923 for future expenditures.

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
