(Contract No. 2021-0253-B; Change Order No. 1) Approved

PREVIOUS ACTION/PRESENTATION

On May 24, 2021, City Council approved RFB No. 2021-0253-B for Collin Creek Culvert Improvements Project No. 6804.1 for the Engineering Department to Ragle, Inc. in the amount of $22,980,671.

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department recommends approval of Change Order No. 1 for the decrease in the construction contract with Ragle, Inc. in the amount of $148,806 for the Collin Creek Culvert Improvements project.

The project will include the addition of a steel reinforced 14-inch concrete liner within all three culverts.  The contractor has proposed an alternative pattern of steel reinforcement to ensure complete and thorough coverage of the steel by the concrete application.  During review of this alternate placement of steel, the design engineer determined that a redundant placement of rebar could be removed, therefore resulting in a credit to the City of Plano.  Change Order No. 1 will modify the steel placement and deduct the redundant rebar.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

This item approves the first change order in the contract with Ragle, Inc. for construction services for the Collin Creek Culvert Improvements project.  The first change order, reducing the current contract by $148,806, will leave a project balance of $3,375,718 for future project expenditures.

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factors of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
