| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Carpenter Park West – Baseball Field Lighting Renovation, Project No. 7301, includes removing and replacing the existing field light poles, fixtures, wiring, switch gear and control system at both 90’ competitive baseball fields. It is necessary to replace the 35-year-old metal poles, which have reached the end of their projected safe life span. The proposed light fixtures will replace the outdated lighting fixture technology with LED fixtures that include a 25-year maintenance warranty for the entire system, including bulb replacement.
The Parks and Recreation Department opened bids on November 18, 2021 for the Carpenter Park West – Baseball Field Lighting Renovation project. The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by Nema 3 Electrical Contractors, Inc., in the amount of $825,324. There were 790 vendors notified of this project. One complete bid was received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap. The bid price is below the Engineers estimate of $975,000.
The project will reduce the cost associated with maintaining the old infrastructure, control equipment and wiring and will reduce future routine maintenance by staff, as well as decrease light spillage and utility costs. Not approving the expenditure would result in a continuation of electrical issues associated with the deteriorating system and would not address the risks presented by the metal poles that are at the end of their projected life span. |
