| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND Based on the recommendations in the siting study of the master planning phase for Bob Woodruff Park North, this project includes development of design construction documents for renovation with a focus on the core of the park around the playground area. The design encompasses the replacement of the restroom building, playground, sand volleyball, core connecting walkways and will provide additional shade at the renovated playground. The existing restroom and existing playground present multiple constraints due to age, regulatory requirements and floodplain. The Bob Woodruff North playground equipment is 23 years old and the restroom is 36 years old.
Professional services include public information gathering and surveying; topographic and site survey information; landscape design, geotechnical survey and report; civil, architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical engineering; and landscape design in order to produce a set of construction documents with an opinion of costs estimation. Talley Landscape Architects Inc., was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission to the 2021-2025 CIP Park Development RFQ No. 2021-0380-XR in the Park Design category.
The benefit of this project includes preparation of renovation construction documents, opinion of costs and application of required local and national development code standards needed to replace the playground, restroom, sand volleyball, core connecting walkways and to provide additional shade covering at the playground. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Park Improvements CIP and is planned for future years, as well. Landscape architectural professional services for the Bob Woodruff Park North Core Renovation Documents project, in the total estimated amount of $614,275, will leave a balance of $35,725 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
