ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an expenditure for construction services for City Fiber Relocations - Parker Road and Coit Road, Park Boulevard at Alma Drive, Preston Road and Park Boulevard in the amount of $117,498 from Capco Telecom LLC for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department recommends the approval of an expenditure in the amount of $117,498 for construction services from Capco Telecom LLC, for the City Fiber Relocation project.  This project includes City fiber relocation at three intersections across the City of Plano.  The intersections included in the project are Parker Road and Coit Road, Park Boulevard at Alma Drive, Preston Road and Park Boulevard.

Capco Telecom LLC is the required vendor for the relocation of fiber per Interlocal Agreement 2021-0553-OR.

The benefit of this project includes relocating and maintaining fiber service to allow roadway widening for intersection improvements at the three intersections listed above.

Not approving the expenditure would result in a failure to complete the required intersection improvements and thus resulting in continued traffic congestion at the three intersections, having a negative impact on the quality of life of residents and motorists traveling through the area.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Street Improvement CIP.  Construction services for the relocation of City fiber at three intersections, in the total estimated amount of $117,498, will leave a combined balance of $780,574 for future expenditures for the projects.

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
