The Engineering Department opened bids on February 8, 2022 for the Water Rehabilitation - Post Oak & Whiffletree II, III, IV, Project No. 7239. The project includes water line replacement in the Post Oak and Whiffletree neighborhoods. The project includes the replacement of approximately 14,025 linear feet of water line and associated pavement replacement, barrier free ramps, and sidewalk.

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by DDM Construction Corporation, in the amount of $4,718,512. There were a total of 1,505 vendors notified of this project. 7 complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.

If this project is not awarded, the result is continued failure of the existing water lines in the Post Oak and Whiffletree neighborhood, resulting in increased maintenance costs for the City and a negative impact on the quality of life in this neighborhood.

Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Street Improvement CIP and Water CIP and is planned for 2022-23 in both funds, as well.  Construction services for the Water Rehabilitation - Post Oak & Whiffletree, II, III, IV project, in the total estimated amount of $4,718,512, will leave a current year balance of $520,161 for future project expenditures.
