RFB No. 2022-0347-B for Screening Wall Replacement - Ohio Drive at Hedgcoxe Road, and McDermott Road, Project No. 7215, for the Engineering Department to A & B Construction, LLC in the amount of $1,162,760; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

The Engineering Department opened bids on March 31, 2022 for the Screening Wall Replacement - Ohio Drive at Hedgcoxe Road, and McDermott Road, Project No. 7215. The project includes screening wall and sidewalk replacements and alley repairs at two locations: 

1. McDermott Road behind 2525 Brycewood Lane west of Custer Road (154 LF).

2. Southwest corner of Ohio Drive and Hedgcoxe Road (1,186 LF).

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by A & B Construction, LLC, in the amount of $1,162,760.  There were a total of eight hundred forty six (846) vendors notified of this project. Three (3) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.

If this project is not awarded, the screening wall, sidewalks, and alleys within the Rockcreek Place neighborhood located southwest of Ohio Drive and Hedgcoxe Road and at 2525 Brycewood Lane, along McDermott Road west of Custer Road, will continue to deteriorate resulting in increased future maintenance costs and reduction in the quality of life of residents.

Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Street Improvement CIP and is planned for 2022-23, as well.  Construction services for the Screening Wall Replacement - Ohio Drive at Hedgcoxe, and McDermott Road project, in the total estimated amount of $1,162,760, will leave a current year balance of $529,007 for future project expenditures.
