| | | | | | | | ITEM SUMMARY To approve an expenditure for engineering professional services for Intersection Improvements - Ohio Drive at SH 121, Ohio Drive at Plano Parkway, Legacy Drive at Archgate Drive, and Legacy Drive at Chase Oaks Boulevard, Project No. 7457, in the amount of $321,900 from LJA Engineering, Inc. for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $321,900 for engineering professional design services from LJA Engineering, Inc., for the following intersections:
- Ohio Drive at SH 121 – addition of eastbound right turn lane, northbound left turn lane, positive offsets in northbound and southbound directions
- Ohio Drive at Plano Parkway – addition of westbound and southbound right turn lane
- Legacy Drive at Archgate Drive – additional storage capacity to westbound left turn lane
- Legacy Drive at Chase Oaks Boulevard – addition of northbound right turn lane, adjustments to northbound and southbound lanes and ADA improvements.
This project includes preliminary design, final design, and construction related engineering services for safety improvements at the four (4) intersections identified in the HAL-HARS (High Accident Location-High Accident Roadway Segments) program.
LJA Engineering, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2021-0377-XR.
The benefit of this project includes increased traffic flow and efficiency, reduced traffic delay, and increased traffic and pedestrian safety, which will lead to an increased quality of life for citizens and motorists.
Not approving the expenditure would result in increased traffic delay and continued safety concerns with turning movements, leading to a reduction of vehicular and pedestrian safety and a decrease in quality of life for citizens and motorists. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Street Improvement CIP and is planned for 2022-23, as well. Professional design services for the Intersection Improvements -Ohio Drive at SH 121, Ohio Drive at Plano Parkway, Legacy Drive at Archgate Drive, Legacy Drive at Chase Oaks Boulevard, Project in the total estimated amount of $321,900, will leave a current year balance of $118,100 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
