RECOMMENDED ACTION:Approval of Expenditure

ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an expenditure in the amount of $282,958 for the purchase of a Sanitary Sewer Easement and a Temporary Construction Easement located along President George Bush Turnpike access road from Custer Road to the western property line with 2300 Plano Parkway from Custer Highway 190 Joint Venture; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. This item was not considered.

PREVIOUS ACTION/PRESENTATION

The Plano City Council approved the expenditure for engineering professional services for the Sewer Improvements Plano Parkway Parallel Interceptor project at its December 14, 2020 meeting.

BACKGROUND

These easements are necessary for the installation of a parallel sewer line to increase sanitary sewer capacity to avoid overflows.  Following an appraisal prepared by Pyles Whatley Real Estate Services, negotiations with Custer Highway 190 Joint Venture led to an agreed compensation amount of $282,958 for this acquisition.  Staff recommends approval.

 

The City is exempt from the competitive bid process for this purchase as allowed by Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252 Subchapter B Section 252.022(a)(6).

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Sewer CIP.  Land acquisition for the Plano Parkway Parallel Interceptor project, in the total estimated amount of $282,958, will leave a current year balance of $2,429,602 for future project expenditures.

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
