The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $114,875 for survey professional services from Gorrondona & Associates, Inc. for the Geodetic Monumentation Survey 2022. This project includes resurveying and confirming the accuracy of all existing City of Plano survey benchmark monuments, replacing any monuments that have been disturbed since the latest update of the manual in 2009, and updating the current geodetic monumentation manual used on most every construction project in the City of Plano.

Gorrondona & Associates, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2021-0378-XR.

The benefit of this project includes providing reliable and accurate benchmark monuments that can be accessed by surveyors, and keeping construction and property surveys and plats on the same coordinate system.

Not approving the expenditure would result in reduced ability of surveyors to access the benchmark monuments required on City final plats and construction plans, resulting in the possibility to compromise the accuracy of the construction work and plat boundaries.

Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Street Improvement CIP.  Engineering Professional Services for the Geodetic Monumentation Survey 2022 project, in the total estimated amount of $114,875, will leave a current year balance of $5,125 for future project expenditures.
