ITEM SUMMARY

RFB No. 2022-0329-B for Carpenter Park West Drainage Way Stabilization, Project No. 7284, for the Parks and Recreation Department to Austin Filter Systems, Inc. in the amount of $893,397; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

Bids were opened on April 5, 2022 for the Carpenter Park West Drainage Way Stabilization project. The project focuses on drainage way issues in Carpenter Park between Preston Meadow and Carpenter Park Loop Road.

The drainage way is eroding and large trees in the drainage way are impeding the flow and catching debris. Damage to adjacent property is occurring.

The subject area will not impact games or events at Carpenter Park. There will be some minor impact to the adjacent Plano Sports Authority (PSA) parking lot; the project plans address and minimize these impacts to PSA's satisfaction. PSA has been included in the plan review and has agreed to the plans.

The lowest responsive and responsible bidder was submitted by Austin Filter Systems, Inc. in the amount of $893,397. There were a total of 822 vendors notified for this project. Nine (9) complete bids were received for this project as shown in the attached bid recap.

If this contract is not awarded, this will result in continued erosion and drainage issues creating a poor quality of life for City Of Plano residents.
