| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND It is the recommendation of Fleet Services to purchase one (1) Telehandler in the amount of $168,254 from Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. through BuyBoard Contract No. 597-19. Fleet Services and Purchasing have reviewed multiple Cooperative Contract quotes and found this to be the best value for the City.
This unit is an approved fleet addition from Capital Outlay FY2021-22 supplement number 552001 in Cost Center 552 Fire-Rescue. This unit will lift heavy equipment, supplies, and materials at the new training facility. The new training facility will include a simulated collapsed parking garage structure. The top floor of the 27’ parking garage will have large, replaceable concrete slabs to be used for practicing breaching techniques. The Telehandler will carry heavy concrete slabs and lift them to the roof of the structure. Without this unit, Fire-Rescue will not be able to utilize the simulated collapsed parking garage structure at the new training facility.
The City is authorized to purchase from a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or a local cooperative organization pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter F of the Texas Local Government Code and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items. | | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funds are available in the FY 2021-22 Adopted General Fund budget to purchase one (1) Telehandler from Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. for an approved fleet addition in Cost Center 552 Fire-Rescue. The purchase amount is $168,254 and the total budgeted amount for this item is $165,000. The additional funds needed for this purchase, in the amount of $3,254, are available from the fund balance.
Approval of this purchase relates to the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
