ITEM SUMMARY

RFB No. 2022-0455-B for Collin Creek Wastewater Improvements, Project No. 7230, for the Engineering Department to A&B Construction, LLC in the amount of $4,782,963; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department opened bids on May 19, 2022 for the Collin Creek Wastewater Improvements Project. The project includes abandonment of existing 30” and 42” diameter wastewater lines into one 42” diameter wastewater line. The project is primarily located within the street right-of-ways for Accent Drive and the East Ring Road of the Collin Creek Development. The project scope generally consists of installation of 42” diameter fiberglass sanitary sewer pipes, and associated manholes, by-pass pumping plans and operations, and other work necessary to complete the scope of the project.

 

The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by A&B Construction, LLC, in the amount of $4,782,963. There were a total of 1,081 vendors notified of this project. Eight (8) complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.

 

If this project is not awarded, the City will continue to have on-going maintenance of two separate aging systems leading to increased future maintenance costs and a reduction in quality of life for residents.

 

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Sewer CIP and is planned for 2022-23, as well. Construction services for the Collin Creek Wastewater Improvements project, in the total estimated amount of $4,782,963, will leave a current year balance of $7,556 for future project expenditures.

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
