To ratify a decrease to the current awarded contract amount of $1,269,339 by $137,052, for a total contract amount of $1,132,287, for Arterial Overlay Jupiter Rd - Chaparral Rd to Park Blvd, Project No. 7099.1 - Phase II, from Austin Bridge & Road, LP for the Public Works Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. (Contract No. 2021-0325-B; Change Order No. 2). Approved

On June 14, 2021, City Council awarded a construction bid in the amount of $1,269,339.00 for overlay on an arterial street for the Arterial Overlay Jupiter Rd - Chaparral Rd to Park Blvd, Project 7099.1 - Phase II project.

On October 7, 2021, City Manager approved Change Order 1 by reducing the quantity of Bid Item 146, Level Up Type D (PG 64-22) to allow for the addition of New Bid Item 150, Main Line Paving Remobilization with no change in the overall contract amount.

During construction, Public Works Department staff determined that the condition of the existing joints in the roadway did not require a level up layer of asphalt.  After a final adjustment of additional items in the contract such as remobilization to complete a section of Jupiter that was delayed due to a NTMWD water main repair and additional work at the Spring Creek Pkwy and Jupiter Intersection, the change order resulted in a reduction to the final contract amount.

The ratification of Change Order No. 2, decreasing the current awarded contract amount of $1,269,339.00 by $137,051.73, for a total contract amount of $1,132,287.27, allows for the reduction in unneeded quantity of Bid Item 146, Level Up Type D (PG 64-22) and for the addition of New Bid Item 151, Spring Creek Parkway and Jupiter Road intersection. 

The Public Works Department is requesting that Council ratify the decrease in the amount of Project 7099.1 - Phase II by $137,051.73. 

This item ratifies a change order in the contract with Austin Bridge & Road, LP for construction services for the Arterial Overlay Jupiter Rd. - Chaparral Rd. to Park Blvd. project.  The second change order, reducing the current contract by an estimated $137,052, will leave a project balance of $866,844 for future expenditures.

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factors of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
