BACKGROUND

After recent winter storms, the City of Plano identified several locations that either need generators or need replacements to meet increased demand.

The existing generators at Parkway Service Center and the Fleet Services building are in need of upgrading to a larger size to adequately support the loads of all of the equipment that support the operation of Public Works and Fleet Services, while responding to calls during power failures.

The Facilities division obtained quotes for generators for Parkway Service Center and the Fleet Services building.  Due to current extensive lead times for this equipment, the orders were placed immediately.  Presently, it is expected that this equipment will be delivered in mid-2023.

Expenditures listed by location:

  • Parkway Service Center         $94,886
  • Fleet Services Building           $94,886

Funding is available from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Fund (265).

The City is authorized to purchase from a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or a local cooperative organization pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter F of the Local Government Code; and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items.  (HGAC Contract No. GE02-20, and City of Plano Contract No.’s 2022-0441-O and 2022-0442-O)
