To approve the terms and conditions of an Interlocal Agreement by and between the City of Plano, Texas and the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) for the construction of a new City of Plano sewer line connection to the NTMWD sewer system; authorizing the City Manager or his designee to take such action and execute such documents as necessary to effectuate the agreement herein; and providing an effective date. Approved

The Engineering Department recommends the City of Plano entering into an Interlocal Agreement with the NTMWD for the new connection of a sewer line at the NTMWD lift station located at the southern end of Accent Drive.  The City of Plano’s current connection will be abandoned and replaced with a new connection as a part of sewer line capacity improvements along President George Bush Turnpike.  The proposed replacement of the existing line will require a new connect to the NTMWD sewer lift station. 

NTMWD and City staff have prepared an Interlocal Agreement to memorialize and guide future cooperative efforts between the two entities for this connection. 

If this Interlocal Agreement is not approved, Plano will be unable to make the new connection and unable to make needed capacity improvements to the existing sewer line.

Funding for this item is planned in the 2022-23 Sewer CIP. This Interlocal Agreement requires the City of Plano to reimburse the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) for inspection fees and legal fees related to the connection of a replacement City sewer line to NTMWD's sewer line.  The estimated cost of the reimbursement is $10,000, based on costs actually and reasonably incurred by NTMWD.
