| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND
Previously, on January 6, 2021, City of Plano entered into a materials testing professional services agreement for Oak Point Recreation Center Outdoor Pool Project 7034.1 in the amount of $35,751. Modification No. 1 was executed on January 27, 2022 for additional cylinder testing, observations and cancellations performed due to material shortages, weather delays and low concrete breaks. This modification increased the agreement by $37,527 for a new agreement total of $73,278.
Modification No. 2 is for an increase of $38,619 for a new agreement total of $111,897. The City project manager requested additional site visits to provide more work observation and concrete sampling to obtain more specific information for concrete batch placements and to monitor concrete quality concerns. This modification is necessary as a result of limited concrete availability and quality concerns. Required pours were often done outside of normal business hours. Increased testing and observation applied to building piers and foundations as well as pool shell foundations, piers, beams and decks.
As a result of additional site visits and tests, work was identified that did not meet project material quality standards and was removed and replaced, ensuring that the City will receive the full anticipated service lifespan of those project elements. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2021-22 Recreation Center Facilities CIP and is planned for 2022-23, as well. Approval of an expenditure for the second modification to contract for materials testing, in the total estimated amount of $38,619, will leave a balance of $61,310 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
