Ordinance No. 2022-10-4: To amend certain sections of Ordinance No. 2021-10-2 and Ordinance No. 2019-10-3; codified as Sections 21-135, 21-136 and 21-147, of Article IV, Service Charges Generally, of Chapter 21, Utilities, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Plano, to increase the fee schedules for water and sewer services effective November 1, 2022, and providing a repealer clause, a severability clause, a savings clause, and an effective date. Adopted

On the evening of Monday, October 10, 2022, the City Council is scheduled to adopt a 9% for both water and wastewater rate increase effective November 1, 2022. The rate increase is the direct result of the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) contract cost increase passed on to the City of Plano.  The 9% increase will provide an additional $10,144,111 to cover the increased contract cost.  The rate increase is included in our new updated Water & Wastewater Rate Model prepared by Willdan Financial Services and was presented to City Council during the Budget Work Session on August 13, 2022.

Approval of this item will increase Water & Sewer Revenues by an estimated $10,144,111 for FY 2022-23 compared to the FY 2021-22 re-estimate. The water & sewer rate increase is included in the FY 2022-23 Water & Sewer Budget.
