| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND This project will provide construction design plans for the removal, replacement and relocation of existing trail along Willow Creek that is 33 years old and in poor condition. The replacement segment extends from Roanoke Drive to P Avenue. The proposed trail replacement will address current pavement failure and deterioration and will mitigate ongoing erosion along Willow Creek near Roanoke Drive.
Dunaway Associates, LLC was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2021-0380-XR. Selection criteria was based on the firm’s ability to handle project complexity and timeline, as well as their experience with the hydraulic and hydrologic modeling requirements of the project. The contract fee of $180,350 includes topographic surveying, environmental assessments of the site, development review and platting of the site, required hydraulic and hydrologic modeling and analysis, sealed construction documents, Texas Accessibility Standards review, bid phase services, and construction phase services.
The benefit of this project includes the replacement of a portion of the trail that is 33 years old and in considerably poor condition. If this contract is not awarded, the trail replacement project will not move forward, the existing trail will remain in poor condition, and unmitigated erosion issues along Willow Creek will persist.
The design process for Willow Creek Trail Replacement - Roanoke Drive to P Avenue is estimated to be completed in late 2023. The project will then be released for bidding. Bids will be reviewed, a bidder will be selected and a bid award is anticipated to need Council action in 2023-24. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Park Improvements CIP and Municipal Drainage CIP. Professional services for the Willow Creek Trail Replacement - Roanoke Drive to P Avenue project, in the total estimated amount of $180,350, will leave a combined balance of $73,200 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
