| | | | | | | | ITEM SUMMARY To approve an expenditure for engineering professional services for Water Rehabilitation - Park Boulevard Phase 1 (Preston Road to US 75), Project No. 7573, in the amount of $291,296 from Raymond L. Goodson, Jr., Inc. dba RLG Consulting Engineers for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $291,296 for engineering professional services from Raymond L. Goodson, Jr., Inc. dba RLG Consulting Engineers for the Water Rehabilitation – Park Boulevard Phase 1 (Preston Road to US 75), Project No.7573. This project includes the preliminary, final design, and construction related engineering services for the replacement or installation of approximately 9,250 linear feet of 6”, 8”, and 12” waterlines along Park Blvd from Preston Rd to US75 to include all related appurtenances (such as: valves, services, fire hydrants, etc.).
Raymond L. Goodson, Jr., Inc. dba RLG Consulting Engineers was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2021-0377-XR.
The benefit of this project includes replacing aging cast iron water lines with PVC pipe to reduce maintenance costs due to breaks and pipe failures in anticipation of future pavement and overlay projects along Park Blvd.
Not approving the expenditure would result in continued maintenance costs, water outages during breaks and maintenance requirements, and a reduction in the quality of life for surrounding residents and businesses. If future improvements are made to the pavement of Park Blvd, these facilities may cause the removal and replacement of new infrastructure for maintenance and repair. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Water CIP and is anticipated in future years, as well. Professional design services for the Water Rehabilitation - Park Boulevard Phase 1 (Preston Road to US75) project, in the total estimated amount of $291,296, will leave a current year balance of $100,000 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government. |
