| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $380,405 for engineering professional services from LJA Engineering, Inc. for the Drainage Improvements – Rockbrook Drive, Flintstone Drive, Brandon Court, Eden Valley Lane, & Russell Creek Park Project No. 7505. This project includes miscellaneous drainage improvements at five (5) sites at various locations in the City of Plano. These locations include Rockbrook Drive from Rigsbee Drive to Erwin Drive, 3636 Flintstone Drive, 6445 Brandon Court, behind Eden Valley Lane from Eldorado Drive to W. Plano Parkway, and the storm drain outfall on the western side of Russell Creek Park pond.
LJA Engineering, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2021-0377-XR.
The benefit of this project includes repairing existing damaged drainage infrastructure, modeling existing drainage systems and providing proposed improvements to reduce flooding, modeling and establishing the floodplain limits for an existing creek, providing streambank stabilization along eroded properties, and installing new drainage infrastructure to relieve flood prone areas.
Not approving the expenditure would result in continued deterioration of existing drainage infrastructure ultimately leading to failure, continued erosion around existing drainage infrastructure threatening existing roadways, parks and adjacent properties, continued maintenance and associated costs, and decreased quality of life for residents. |
