Approval of an increase in the amount of $24,630 for engineering professional services for Emergency Backstand Power System Replacement at Ridgeview Pump Station, Project No. FAC-F-7328.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:Approval of Contract Modification

ITEM SUMMARY

To approve an increase in the current contract awarded amount of $99,813 by $24,630, for a total contract amount of $124,443, for engineering professional services for the Emergency Backstand Power System Replacement at Ridgeview Pump Station, Project No. FAC-F-7328, from Tom Eldred d/b/a Energy & Engineering Solutions for the Engineering - Facilities Division; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. (Contract Modification No. 2) Approved

BACKGROUND

The Engineering - Facilities Division recommends approval of Contract Modification No. 2 for the increase in the Professional Services Agreement with Tom Eldred d/b/a Energy & Engineering Solutions in the amount of $24,630, for engineering professional services for the Emergency Backstand Power System Replacement at Ridgeview Pump Station, Project No. FAC-F-7328. Tom Eldred d/b/a Energy & Engineering Solutions was originally selected for this project from a list of qualified vendors.

 

The original contract amount of $93,913 was previously increased by Contract Modification No. 1 by the amount of $5,900.  This modification was required to include scope additions to provide a site survey to review the existing site layout and configuration adjacent to the 5 kV Pump Station Building.

 

City of Plano staff has identified through their efforts to Master Plan the Ridgeview Pump Station, the need for additional water pumping capabilities. These extra pumps will require additional back-up power generation in the form of another generator.  Contract Modification No. 2 increases the engineering services needed to account for this increase in the project’s scope of work.

 

The growth of the City of Plano requires additional water pumping capabilities. If this contract modification is not approved, it will limit the amount of emergency power generation to the current amount, which will not support the growth required.

FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS

Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Capital Maintenance Fund.  The second modification to the Professional Services Agreement for the Ridgeview Pump Station project, in the total estimated amount of $24,630, will leave a current year balance of $3,117,513 for future project expenditures.

 

Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
