| | | | | | | | ITEM SUMMARY RFB No. 2022-0686-B for Sewer Improvements - President George Bush Turnpike, Project No. 6821.1, for the Engineering Department to A&B Construction, LLC in the amount of $5,869,469; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved |
| | | | | | | | BACKGROUND The Engineering Department opened bids on October 13, 2022 for the Sewer Improvements – President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) project. The project includes approximately 2,100 linear feet of large diameter sewer upsizing and replacement, including two sewer aerial crossings across Pittman Creek and Spring Creek.
The current sewer main along PGBT is the first of three sections of sewer lines scheduled for replacement. The existing lines currently experience surcharging which can result in maintenance concerns and potential odor issues. This project will provide needed improvements to eliminate the surcharging, but will not add additional sewer flows to the system.
The lowest responsive and responsible bid was submitted by A&B Construction, LLC, in the amount of $5,869,469. There were a total of 1,635 vendors notified of this project. Four complete bids were received for the project as shown in the attached bid recap.
If this project is not awarded, the result is that the existing sewer lines will continue to have the potential for surcharges resulting in maintenance issues in this area of Plano. In addition, the two aerial crossings will continue to deteriorate and increase the potential for failure. |
| | | | | | | | FINANCIAL SUMMARY/STRATEGIC GOALS Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Sewer CIP, including funding made available through a companion agenda item for a supplemental appropriation from the Water & Sewer Operating Fund. Construction services for the Sewer Improvements - President George Bush Turnpike project, in the total estimated amount of $5,869,469, will leave a current year balance of $25,627 for future project expenditures.
Approval of this item will support the City's Strategic Plan Critical Success Factor of being an Excellent, Innovative, and Accountable City Government.
