To approve an expenditure for engineering professional services for Monarch Drive, Charter Oak Drive, White Oak Drive & Desert Garden Drive - Paving & Water Improvements, Project No. 7572, in the amount of $368,350 from Multatech Engineering, Inc. for the Engineering Department; and authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents. Approved

The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $368,350 for engineering professional services from Multatech Engineering, Inc., for the Monarch Drive, Charter Oak Drive, White Oak Drive & Desert Garden Drive Paving & Water Improvements - Project No. 7572. This project includes preliminary design, final design, and construction related engineering services for the full street and sidewalk reconstruction of the following sections: 

1. Monarch Drive & Court – Between Royal Oaks Drive and Charter Oak Drive (1423 LF)
2. Charter Oak Drive – Between Duchess Trail and Royal Oaks Drive (1511 LF)
3. White Oak Drive & Court – Between White Oak Drive to end of the cul-de-sac (1491 LF)
4. Desert Garden Drive – From Watersedge Drive to end of the cul-de-sac (534 LF)

Multatech Engineering, Inc. was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2021-0377-XR.

The benefit of this project includes updating the existing outdated water line and storm drain infrastructure and the reconstruction of deteriorating concrete street and sidewalk pavement and barrier free ramps along these neighborhood streets.

Not approving the expenditure would result in continued and increased maintenance costs for the water line, storm drain, pavement and sidewalks, resulting in a decreased quality of life for residents.

Funding for this item is available in the 2022-23 Street Improvements CIP and is planned for future years, as well.  Engineering professional design services for the Monarch Drive, Charter Oak Drive, White Oak Drive & Desert Garden Drive Paving and Water Improvements project, in the total estimated amount of $368,350, will leave a project balance of $1,831,650 for future expenditures.
