BACKGROUND

The Engineering Department recommends approval of an expenditure in the amount of $423,434 for engineering professional services from Raymond L. Goodson Jr., Inc. dba RLG Consulting Engineers for the Water Rehabilitation – Park Boulevard Phase 2 (US75 to East City Limits) project. This project includes replacement of approximately 16,410 LF of cast iron water lines with new PVC water lines, ranging in size from 6-inches to 12-inches, running parallel to or crossing the Park Blvd right of way. The water lines are being replaced in anticipation of a concrete pavement maintenance and asphalt overlay project being completed by Public Works in the future along these limits of Park Blvd.

Raymond L. Goodson Jr., Inc., dba RLG Consulting Engineers was deemed most qualified based on their Statement of Qualifications submission for RFQ No. 2021-0379-XR.

The benefit of this project includes reduced maintenance cost and interruptions of service to residents.

Not approving the expenditure would result in increased ongoing localized maintenance, intermittent service interruptions, additional maintenance costs and a reduction in quality of life for local residents.
