Milestone Video Management software and hardware were acquired in 2017 to provide storage and management for over 400 cameras throughout the City. Many legacy camera systems have been replaced and added to the Milestone environment in recent years. The Milestone system now supports over 1044 cameras. The current CIP Traffic CCTV expansion and future planned projects will add an estimated 900 additional cameras over the next 18-24 months. The current recorder servers are no longer covered under warranty, with limited availability of replacement parts, and do not support these capacity requirements.
It is the recommendation from Technology Solutions to refresh the existing aging recorder hardware with sixteen (16) Milestone Husky IVO 1800R Dell-manufactured recording servers with five years of support and upgrade to Milestone XProtect Corporate software to support the growth in capacity and technology needs to service the City’s camera projects.
If not awarded, there will not be the capacity required to support the CIP Traffic CCTV expansion and future planned projects. The current aging hardware is no longer covered under warranty and is at risk of hardware failures with limited availability of replacement parts.
The City is authorized to purchase from the State Contract list pursuant to Chapter 271 Subchapter D of the Texas Local Government Code and by doing so satisfies any State Law requiring local governments to seek competitive bids for items.
